RIMMA GERLOVINA & VALERIY GERLOVIN
These images presented as 'still performances' briefly sum up certain trends in our art that closely link to the whole sequence of our life's 'perhappenings.' They are our thoughts that became visible shown through the allegoric games of theatre of consciousness.
Creativity in general is an extension of the inner qualities of an artist, whose face is the face of the world expressed through his/her face and dimension. Involuntarily, we exist in all that exists. Therefore, these photographs are not portraits. Not the models but the modules are used for personification of different stages of psychological and visionary experience. Our roles of the observers and the observed are extended into the unifying state of being the observatory itself. We do not separate aesthetic qualities from art. Socrates prayed for beauty in the inward soul, and to be granted that the outward and the inward of man be as one. The physical aspect of beauty has to be subordinated to the metaphysical one. Such was an iconography of the past that we preserve in the present. With an atemporal approach and the land of nowhere, we try to maintain a meditative atmosphere that permits one to view intangible substances in a tangible form. Long loose hair functions as threads of life, alluding to Aphrodisian vitality and Samsonian strength, while on the other hand, they are the haircloth worn during mourning and penitence. Used for linear drawings, braids transmit the transpersonal waves akin to an aura filled with live filaments. The greatest events are often drawn by hairs. The play of paradoxes goes beyond the limits of reasonable logic. Non-sense and es-sense are the opposites of the same, in a sense. They hint of the absoluteness hidden in the relative state of our material world, thus reducing its pressure. Maybe that is why humor was known as an ancient form of a therapeutic remedy. Art that gives us joy of creation speaks on Symbolic language, of multiple dimensions which some of us happen to cross and others perhaps imagine. In the pursuit of 'PERHAPPINESS' in life, we tend to follow our feelings, not the instinct; to follow our mind, not the feelings; to follow our intuition, not the mind. Amid all kinds of wonders, it is a process of finding the articulation for the soul. |
